2012 scheduled climbs and safaris

We do not accompany unless you have a group of 10 or larger.

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro Int. airport in Tanzania you will be collected by your host and remain with them until they deliver you to the airport after your hike and/or safari. You will always have someone in charge that speaks english while you are engaged in any activity on the itinerary.

FEATURE 2012 TANZANIA EXCURSION : We begin with hiking the Machame route to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. This is one of the most scenic routes to the top and our seven day itinerary provides sufficient time to acclimatize and enjoy the scenery. All of your equipment and supplies are portered and a cook prepares all your meals. Where accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers strictly tents. This makes Machame (also referred to as the "Whiskey route" compared to the Marangu referred by the locals as the "Coca Cola route') better suited to the slightly more adventurous hiker, however rewarding them with a scenic splendor not seen on the Marangu route. From late afternoon sunsets at Shira, to the misty revelations of Kibo at the great Barranco Wall, the Machame route offers the adventurous hiker a stunning scenic "slide show" over 7 days. The Machame route is normally completed in a minimum of 6 days but we add a day so that your approach to the 15,600 foot Barafu camp is not quite as grueling. There is an added benefit to this, as you are afforded the most valuable commodity on the mountain - acclimatization. The Machame route takes you high to Lava Tower (4630m) on the third day and brings you down by nearly 700m for an overnight at Barranco camp (3950m). This allows for successful acclimatization and a better chance for success at the summit..

Following the summit hike we will spend 4 days on safari exploring the famous Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara, the site of the only tree climbing lions.

If the above trips don’t fit your time schedule or you prefer a different route or safari let us help you plan it. We schedule climbs on Mt. Kilimanjaro any time of the year for any size party. We also arrange photo safaris in Kenya and Tanzania at all the popular game parks.
